You asked for it ...

I completed two small projects while attempting to take vacation ... only two.  A little bummed but a little happy too.  One will be donated to the United Way Fundraiser that my employer does and the other will be used for the STaR Committee.  Well, that's the plan anyway.

I admit to being partial to any quilt pattern that is also a star ... I used the Ohio Star pattern for this small table topper, which can also be used as a wall hanging.  I purchased the fabrics from ConnectingThreads.com and Hancocks-Paducah.com.

The table runner below is a pattern called Diamond Forest Table Runner by Cranberry Corner ... once again, the fabrics were purchased from ConnectingThreads.com.  I love the jewel tones batiks!

Curves .... are not for sissies!

Believe it or not, I sewed my first curved seam tonight ... and the second.  Yes, I admit to feeling sick to my stomach while I was sewing.  I do have to rip one out, make an adjustment, and re-sew it ... that will occur tomorrow.  I can at least say that I've done it!

OMG ...

June and I have a competition going ... of sorts anyway.  Look at the pictures in the previous post.  June's is laid out according to the pattern, Julie's is not.  June likes Julie's better, but Julie likes June's better.  Go figure ...

We're making progress ...

So ... We're making progress on one of our joint projects.  It's a bargello, although I don't remember the name of the pattern.  June picked this pattern ... we started by making strip sets, then cut lots of pie pieces, and have wedges sewn together.  AND, all of the fabrics from our stashes!!  Tomorrow is the big fun though, we'll cut 4 wedges pieces to combine the two circles ... and should be able to sew both circles into one unit.  I am so excited ... just look at the pictures!

above is June's, and below is Julie's

It's about time ...

I finally sewed today!!  Yay!!  OK, maybe not that exciting, but ... I have the top pieced for a table runner.  It will be donated to the United Way Electronic Auction where I work ... I guess that also means that I have to admit that I get paid to bid on items once a year, and all the proceeds go to the United Way.  Not a bad thing really.  No picture yet as I'm hoping to get it quilted tomorrow ... it measures about 21"x37" and was made with jewel toned batiks.  Yummy!

Vacation!

Yes, you guessed it ... I am officially on vacation!  And what a great time for it as well.  We got hit by a storm at home that knocked out our power ... that was last Friday ... and are still without power.  Thankfully, I have family and friends that don't mind me visiting.  Literally!!

I've not done much sewing yet.  The lack of power caused problems at work, luckily I've been able to work remotely and assist from afar.  And the weather isn't cooperating fully either.

What really matters is that I'm enjoying my visit with June!  And am thankful that she lets me occupy a spare bedroom so that we can sew together ...
