Oh how I love to share joy!

I found out about the 2012 Grand Lake One Stop Shop Hop (http://www.cozycabinquilts.com/pages/2012-Grand-Lake-One-Stop-Shop-Hop-.html) that will be held March 23 and 24 at the UNOH Event Center in Lima, OH.  Just imagine ... 19 shops under one roof!  I'm excited just thinking about it!!  Use the link above to see all the details.

Block of the Month – Block 1

I had first pick, and went with Borrow and Lend that I found on www.quilterscache.com (a great website to browse over lunch for ideas and most of the patterns are free!)  I like the look of the finished block, and its name describes how June and I work together on our quilts – by borrowing and lending ideas, fabric and more!  Pictures coming soon ...

Block of the Month – QOC Style

We decided to do a block of the month, but wanted to keep it flexible to allow time for our jobs and other commitments.

The Rules
  • Alternate picking blocks.
  • No going ahead of each other, we’ll wait until we’ve both finished the current block to proceed.  Of course this means that we could end up doing a block a week if our schedules allow.
  • Any method goes – piecing, appliqué, foundation piecing.
  • Continue until we both agree to stop.
  • Must use fabric from our own stash for the blocks.
Sounds easy enough ... doesn't it?

The beginning is always a good place to start but being that we are Quilters Off Center, I thought starting with why might be better.
Simply put, June and I are friends who share a passion for quilting.  And I’m thankful each day that June talked me into taking the Baltimore Block class through Millstream's Adult and Community Education program in 2005.  I was hooked after just one class!
Our jobs have now spread us miles apart but we refuse to let that stop us.  So, to quote June, we've finally "jumped in with both sewing machines" to share our love of quilting with others.
We definitely don't follow all of the rules.  And we do have our share of "happy accidents" as I refuse to call them mistakes.  Most of all, we just enjoy the creative process that quilting is for us.
